The Great War between the Varini Empire and the Southern Axis came to an end on the 20th day of the Minstrel month when Emperor Suetonius surrendered to King Elcmar and Queen Tiana. Post-war negotiations took place throughout Queen's Month, while the people celebrated the end of the great conflict.
At the end of the Queen's month, at the end of summer, the monarchs Elcmar, Tiana, Ednardo and Divaine, returned to their respective domains of the new kingdom of Concordia, United Realm, Valencia and Alistae.
This war left the United Realm as the strongest militarily and with a large territory, followed by King Elcmar's new kingdom of Concordia (composed of the Elvenar Magocracy and a good chunk of the Empire), Realm of Alistae (strong economically and also with a chunk of the Empire) and, finally, the kingdom of Valencia, which participated little in the war, but still received its fair share from the Empire, being the weakest kingdom economically and militarily.
King Ednardo of Valencia is not happy about this and seeks to ally himself with Queen Divaine of Alistae who resents the importance that the United Realm and Queen Tiana acquired through the conflict.
After all, Tiana is of commoner origin, started out as a mercenary and managed to persuade Prince Elcmar to marry her in a military alliance!
The oldest and most traditional realms are feeling threatened by the meritocratic reforms that Tiana has been authoritatively imposing on the United Realm.
Competitions for government positions; new property inheritance laws, excluding the rights of first-born males; equal work and salary rights for men and women and for all people.
Freedom of marriage for people of the same sex and even for collective marriages; public castration for rape crimes and collective stoning for discrimination crimes; and so on.
A kind of social tolerance imposed by iron hand: accept differences or die!
